~ Family History Magazine ~

This area is under complete renovation as we are incorporating what is known as a wiki, using the MediaWiki engine and the integration to TNG through icons (small pictures) of a notepad next to a persons name in the TNG database. If you see such an icon click on it to take you to the new wiki site that will hold the stories of our ancestors, family members and more.

This change is an effort to make it easier for anyone using the site to add information about their family, edit information to correct any challenges and open the magazine for wider use and information. To get a view of the wiki select the 'New Wiki' menu item from the left menu. Also, as soon as I can move the stories under people and places to the new wiki format and site clicking on people or places will also take you there. It is exciting so please share in the growth of the family magazine. Like all other areas of the genealogy site your branch need not be direct to ours, we all sprout from the same grand tree.

Our family history magazine is a chance for all of us to share stories and histories both past and present. Within the pages of this magazine we will discover the origins of our surnames, family crests, stories of why families moved, how history impacted them and many tales. The pages here are categorized by some connections but you can move page to page, story to story and learn who we really are. The Genealogy Database has a lot of data, photos and information. However, our magazine makes this data come to life.

Enjoy the reading. Contact us if you read something that is not quite 'as I remember' so the stories can be refined and improved. Think, while you read, of stories others would like to hear that you know, then jot them down and let’s get them published in our family magazine!

~ Editors & Writers Needed ~

We need editors and writers. That’s right, editors willing to take on the task of helping edit and build the stories. Writers willing to share their memories of the people and places they know or the history of events they have learned through research. The more editors and writers we have helping to build our magazine the better the pages of our magazine will be. If you enjoy reading the articles here wouldn’t it be fun to actually write one or two as well? Of course it would!

This magazine is a very dynamic area. It will be ever changing, ever growing and ever more fun. What if you know your grandma’s favorite recipes for Thanksgiving? Write an article and let’s share it here. What if you discover new families and new stories? Share your discovery and the menu can be changed to include this new branch. Our magazine is a living document. It will never be finished but it has begun.

Family Section Sketches

Surname Origins Have you ever wondered where your surname originated from? Come on over and see what the Dictionary of American Family Names has to tell us. If you don't see your name let us know so we can add you! It's a fun section and if you click on any name we have in this area you will be taken to a listing of all familiy tree members with that last name.

The People: More than just people, these are our ancestors. It matters not whether the stories shared in this section are extraordinary or ordinary. These are our ancestors so read, learn, explore and then share your tales as well.

Places and Times: Here we will journey to the various places and times where our ancestors lived and worked. We will gain an insight into their daily lives and discover why they moved, what they did and how they lived. Again, read, learn, explore and then share your tales as well.

Beloved Veterans Among our many ancestors were those who served their country's military. In this section we will begin to pay tribute to the men and women who served in both times of peace and times of war. We will try to honor the memory of those that have passed while giving the ultimate sacrafice for their family, friends and country.

Wiki Our Wiki Family Magazine Follow this link to our new wiki site which will be the exclusive home of our family magazine soon. Eventually all people and places will be in the wiki site rather than here in the TNG data site so start to enjoy it now. This area will make it much easier for any user to add, edit and expand on the stories of our family members and where they lived.
