~ The Places and Times ~

Welcome

  Gary Wood; Section Editor

The places and times our family lived in were as varied as the places and times we live in today. Whether they worked and lived in the coal mining areas of Kentucy and Arkansas or in the farmlands of Pennsylvania and Kansas matters not. Do you know that there is even the first white settler of Douglas County, Illinois in our family tree? Some involved themselves in the Oklahoma land rush when taming the Indian Territory was part of modern times rather than history. Most immigrated from far away places in England, Germany, Switzerland, Russia among a few. There are very few states our heritage has not touched. It is here we strive to explore these towns and times so please share what you heard or experienced so others may learn a bit more of who our ancestors were and why we are who we are.

If you read something that is not quite as you recall then please let us know so we can improve the accuracy of all information presented. Also, any memories of places you would like to see are always welcomed. Perhaps you know a simple tale or perhaps your research will lead you to one. Please share it with everyone who yearns to relax under the shade of our family tree.

~ Editors & Writers Needed ~

We need editors and writers. That’s right, editors willing to take on the task of helping edit and build the stories. Writers willing to share their memories of the people and places they know or the history of events they have learned through research. The more editors and writers we have helping to build our magazine the better the pages of our magazine will be. If you enjoy reading the articles here wouldn’t it be fun to actually write one or two as well? Of course it would!

This magazine is a very dynamic area. It will be ever changing, ever growing and ever more fun. What if you know your grandma’s favorite recipes for Thanksgiving? Write an article and let’s share it here. What if you discover new families and new stories? Share your discovery and the menu can be changed to include this new branch. Our magazine is a living document. It will never be finished but it has begun.

Wiki Our Wiki List of Places Follow this link to our new wiki site and the places you will start to see developed there.
